I recently visited EGR’s flagship property Detour West. The purpose and goal of the visit was, to get a feel for the property, understand the lay of the land, collect new footage and be better able to talk about what immense potential we have. My biggest takeaway is that it is real, and we have power, access, and size. Below I will break down the importance of what I saw.
Highlights:
- Access
- Power
- Cell Service
- Size
- Agnico’s Exploration – Moving West
Access
I began my journey by renting an SUV in Toronto assuming vehicle clearance was important along with 4×4 or AWD. As I started the 8 hour drive to Cochrane the hardest part was exiting Toronto. From Cochrane you follow Highway 652 towards Detour Lake Mine. There is only one main reason the road exists and it’s for the mine. It had snowed a substantial amount the night before yet the road to our property was plowed and easy to drive on. The biggest concern was the traffic of transport trucks and work trucks going to and from the mine delivering supplies, machinery, employees, etc. You can drive a Honda Civic to our property in the middle of winter. It is roughly 190 km to the gate of Agnico Eagle and we cross a portion of our property at kilometre 156.
Access to our property is available through a series of logging roads and trails. Over many areas of the property and along the highway, we flew a drone and saw numerous trails and access points. With three feet of snow on the ground and no snowmobiles, I strapped on some snowshoes and went for a hike. I walked around 1 km onto the property and stood over the Lower Detour Lake Deformation Zone.
Power
I was greeted by power lines when I approached the 140-kilometre mark. From there, the power lines follow the highway and along the southern end of the property all the way to Detour Lake Mine. I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited to see powerlines before, and my cameraman (with no mining background) looked at me like I was odd. To know that we are up to 180 kilometres away from anything and have access to power ticks a big box for me.
Cell Service
All along highway 652, there is a series of cell towers. Not being a Rogers member, I could not test the reception, but our property has 5G cell service for one reason only, which is the Detour Lake Mine.

Size
The property is huge. It is hard to describe the size other than that. To be able to see it and its potential was amazing to experience. We have tried to show the size in scale to cities and other markers but to be on the ground and driving along or snowshoeing I definitely got a feel for the size and scale of this property.
Agnico Moving West
As I approached the gate to Detour Lake Mine, there were trails with signs that stated there was an active exploration in progress. It is west of the open pit and 8 to 10 Km from our property. During my visit to PDAC and recent communication with Agnico, we will be organizing to talk rocks and attempt to get an understanding of what they are doing. The access points and trails that Agnico has created off the highway are over the Sunday Lake Deformation Zone. It looks like they are exploring toward us.
In Summary
The property ticks a lot of boxes, which can be an issue later in the exploration process; we have:
- Size,
- The paved all-year-round access,
- The jurisdiction,
- Power,
- And in the shadow of a headframe.
This is an underexplored or overlooked property that only misses the exploration piece. We are in the process of organizing flying airborne magnetics, and I look forward to keeping our shareholders and the public updated.
I am always available to give an update. Do not hesitate to reach out.
